Global infrastructure và shared responsibility
Region là failure/sovereignty boundary; Availability Zone (AZ) là cụm datacenter độc lập về điện, mạng và kết nối; edge location phục vụ delivery/security gần client. Multi-AZ và multi-Region giải các failure class khác nhau.
Mental model
- Chọn Region theo data residency, latency, service availability, quota, cost và khả năng recovery; ghi decision record thay vì chọn theo thói quen.
- Trải workload qua ít nhất hai AZ chỉ hữu ích khi compute, data, load balancer và dependency đều bỏ single-AZ dependency.
- AWS chịu trách nhiệm security of the cloud; khách hàng chịu config, identity, data, guest OS tùy service model. Managed service giảm operational surface nhưng không chuyển trách nhiệm phân quyền và dữ liệu.
Failure reasoning
Đừng đồng nhất “AWS service regional” với “workload chịu lỗi AZ”. Kiểm tra data plane/control plane, dependency bên ngoài, quota từng Region và cơ chế deploy khi control plane suy giảm. Với service global như IAM, Route 53 hay CloudFront, xác định rõ control scope và data path.
